Focus of the Role

The Senior Advisor, Lifesciences & Health-tech is an critical senior expert role within our Middle East and North Africa practice. Working with Senior Directors across the region, you will serve clients as they seek solutions to transform their life science sector and healthcare delivery systems – with a focus on embracing health technology, including, but not limited to, latest biotech innovations, the future of digital health and virtual care, improved use of data for patient care and policymaking, leveraging cutting edge trends in artificial intelligence on diagnostics and treatment, genomics and surveillance, and harnessing the new opportunities technology is bringing to the healthcare and public health space through strategy, policy, and delivery.

You will work with TBI country teams to support client discussions, design and deliver projects, formulate key deliverables ensuring we are bringing the best of TBI to our health and life sciences work.  To do so, you will need to collaboratively engage across government advisory and with our global Policy & Politics, Global Client Solutions and Strategy & Partnerships Divisions to bring in bold solutions from our growing body of through leadership and to draw on evolving partnerships which enhance our solutions.

This role is client-facing and may require significant regional travel.

Job Introduction

This is critical to help address rising global healthcare demands and to create healthier populations that can drive economic growth and prosperity.

Key Responsibilities

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­This is a senior role within TBI and will be held by an exceptional candidate with deep and extensive experience and relationships in the health and technology sectors.  Key responsibilities will include: 

Government advisory

  • Working with Senior Directors across the MENA region to help leaders solve key challenges in the cost and quality of care and create pathways for innovation.
  • Deliver quality and impactful engagements with country teams and TBI wide experts.
  •  Identify and utilise knowledge of upcoming trends and opportunities to generate new solutions to enhance our support to senior political leaders drawing from our Policy & Politics, Global Client Solutions and Strategy & Partnerships  department and our wider technology anchor team and community of practice.
  • Work collaboratively with TBI colleagues across the globe to provide solutions which respond to complex challenges and cut across subject matters of expertise.

Subject matter expertise in client service

  • As a technical expert and thought partner, work with advisory country teams to design and deliver the portfolio of work for senior political leaders in health and life sciences
  • Generate innovative solutions to client problems and frame them in a compelling way.
  • Engage with senior client stakeholders, i.e. Heads of State, Ministers, and other senior stakeholders, to advance projects and solutions
  • Provide high quality advice
  • Bring subject matter expertise to support recruitment of other health expertise across the organisation included in-country embedded advisors

Internal leadership

  • Provide leadership and, line management as applicable, to advisors, associates and junior staff on project teams
  • Shape and embody a positive culture that drives innovation and delivery
  • Support wider Institute priorities and initiatives in the health and life science space

Person Specification

The postholder will be an experienced candidate who posses experience and expertise in some of the following areas:

  • Deep experience in political leaders on complex challenges on public health and health innovation, or working in government, academia, or other professional advisory firm
  • Practical life sciences and healthcare delivery expertise
  • Experience working in life sciences in the Middle East, with particular focus on the GCC
  • Knowledge of the life sciences landscape and ecosystem in the GCC
  • Practical grasp of emerging innovations and cutting-edge technologies in the health and life science space (experience supporting leaders to harness these is an advantage)
  • Complete toolkit which enables you to identify creative solutions for complex challenges
  • Skilled written and verbal communicator and influencer
  • Thought leader able to represent the Institute with clients and on relevant platforms
  • Effective leader committed to achieving exceptional results
  • Track record of cultivating and maintaining strategic alliances and partnerships across sectors and organizations; and the ability to convert conversations into action
  • Fluency in English is required, fluency in Arabic is a significant advantage
  • Willingness to travel across the MENA Region
