Job Introduction

This is an important role in within our growing tech for development initiative, which has been enabled by a dynamic external partner, across existing and new operations in our Government Advisory and Tech & Public Policy divisions. This landmark initiative will be delivered in 30 countries in Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia, and aims to transform developing and emerging nations through the application of sustainable scaled technology and innovations across public services, food systems and agriculture, healthcare and climate.

The postholder will be part of a central team consisting of five areas of expertise across Ag-Tech, Green Energy, Digital ID, Health-Tech, E-Gov.  The central team also includes functional resources which support country teams leading the design and delivery of technology transformation efforts in partnership with governments and technology partners.

The postholder will support the Head of Health-Tech in managing the trajectory and delivery of an exciting, global genomic sequencing initiative as part of a unique partnership. This includes providing support to portfolio strategy, programme growth, design, quality control and execution support under the tech for development umbrella. 

The postholder will also engage with our country teams to scope and identify new opportunities and design and deliver this work in support of governments and political leaders who want to harness technology to achieve ambitious leaps forward for their citizens and the world.

Key Responsibilities

Support programme development in the genomic sequencing initiative

  • Provide grip and discipline in a fast-growing endeavour to harness novel genomic sequencing technology worldwide
  • Support the development of communication flows and processes which continually improve programme management to accelerate the adoption of this technology,
  • Support innovation in the Health-Tech sector within the countries we work and which have prioritised Health-Tech as a platform for tech-enabled transformation
  • Work very closely with TBI country teams to shape recommendations to, and engagement with, Heads of State, Ministers, or other senior stakeholders, as required
  • In working with country teams capture key user and government requirements and feed back product needs to ensure the continued fit of the product for user needs
  • Work very closely with country teams providing programme management, technical expertise and thought partnership to generate innovative solutions to client problems and frame them in a compelling way

External engagement and partnership management

  • Support the Head of Healthtech to maintain open communication and collaboration with key stakeholders in the partnership, including senior leaders.
  • Develop and enhance our network and relationships with leading innovators and implementation partners in the Health-Tech space complimentary to the genomic sequencing partnership
  • Engage with relevant external stakeholders such as other not-for-profit organisations, media, suppliers and agencies as required 
  • Support country and regional teams to hire, manage and develop capability in support of the initiative
  • Shape and embody a positive culture that drives innovation and delivery

 

Person Specification

Person Specification

The postholder will be an experienced candidate:

  • With a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in strategic consultancy and product/programme delivery, ideally in the public health space
  • With demonstrable experience in technology enterprises or programmes, and ideally with exposure to genomic sequencing technologies
  • Experience in the end-to-end delivery of digital/tech products or services within government or private sector
  • Who is entrepreneurial and can develop plans for successful delivery of challenging objectives
  • With experience in consulting or advisory functions
  • With outstanding programme and project management and organisation skills
  • Who has worked or consulted in developing and emerging economies and is sensitive to a diverse range of cultural and regional norms, and fosters a positive spirit of collaboration 
  • Who is a capable and clear communicator able to represent the programme’s efforts from the day to day through to the board room.
  • Who commits to business objectives and pulls out the stops to make sure they are always met
