Focus of the Role

Part of the External Relations division, the Fundraising and Donors Relations Team is a strategic function at the Institute, responsible for securing and managing income to ensure the Institute can achieve impact and increase its influence.  The Team focusses on a broad range of high value relationships with philanthropic institutions, corporate partners, individuals and Institutional/Development partners as well as governments to meet its objectives. The Team works at the highest levels including with the Executive Chairman and CEO as well as operational teams to ensure the Institute is best positioned to maximise relationships with its donors and partners.

The Network Engagement Manager will work alongside the Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships on the delivery of our newly established corporate membership programme Global Network for Change (GNC). The programme will bring together a diverse group of socially responsible organisation’s from across professional and geographic divides and create opportunities for members to hear, share, debate and collaborate to develop insights on global challenges and public-policy issues. The candidate will be joining the team at an exciting and pivotal time following the launch of the programme, as we raise its profile and shape it to engage global audiences and stakeholders across a range of complex themes and geographies.

With responsibility for delivering our engagement programme and creating and executing member communications, you will manage and cultivate relationships to understand member priorities, identify key stakeholders and new members, and work with the Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships to shape the programme and raise its profile.

Key Responsibilities

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering the Institute’s corporate membership programme Global Network for Change
  • Working with the Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships on the member journey, from acquisition to retention and best-in-class member experience
  • Working with Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships to raise the profile of the GNC and shape the programme to ensure its appeal
  • Supporting the Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships in delivering partnerships to support our policy programmes
  • Ensuring partners and members records and data are up to date and synced into the central CRM database and reported on as appropriate
  • Supporting the team and colleagues across the Institute to effectively represent the GNC externally at events, preparing talking points and key messages as needed
  • Representing the Institute externally at events and stakeholder meetings
  • Working with the Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships and Development Operations Manager to set and monitor metrics to assess progress against targets
  • Working with the Institute’s fundraising and donor relations team to be aware and sensitive to existing funding relationships or those already being cultivated by the Institute
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate policies, project systems and processes, including those related to safeguarding, security and legal matters
  • Supporting Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships, when required
  • Managing contractors / external agencies / team members, where required

Person Specification

  • Significant experience working in business development, events and member services
  • Excellent understanding and experience of approaches to identifying, cultivating, securing and managing partnerships to specific targets
  • Demonstrated success in securing income and managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources
  • First class communications skills and experience of working closely with executive-level stakeholders across different sectors
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of current affairs
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentational skills with significant experience of working across teams in complex environments
  • Highly organised multi-tasker, with ability to work on multiple projects and to tight timelines
  • A self-starter who is comfortable in a team environment, able to think strategically and produce and implement business plans, with attention to detail, analysis and according to targets and timeframes
  • A proactive, self-motivated individual who is able to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-moving context
  • Experience of managing a corporate membership programme is highly desirable
