Job Introduction

As a Delivery Manager you will be an expert in your field. You will work across TBI, with subject matter experts, comms and teams across the world. Supporting a wide range of teams to ensure that the services and content we provide meets user needs, both internally and externally.

Initially, the role will be focussed in the central Digital Transformation team looking at the new Intranet and its content to ensure it provides internal users with what they need. You will also work on a new knowledge management platform.

Responsible for supporting the Director of Digital to build and maintain a multi disciplinary team, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well.

The complexity and breadth of programmes and services this team works on will vary in this role, depending on the current business and user needs, and priorities.

Also working alongside the project manager unit to support the development of best practice within TBI around delivery management, as well as help teams understand the benefits of the discipline.

Working with a multidisciplinary team and with teams across the wider organisation, both within the UK and globally. This is an exciting role with a range of projects and programmes to be a part of.  As new projects come up and new priorities emerge, your skills will be pivoted to make sure we meet user needs and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support us to maintain a team, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well
  • Support the director of digital to create an open, collaborative and safe environment for the team to thrive
  • Develop ways of working within the team which work for the team in question
  • Coach teams on maintaining their roadmap for the rest of the financial year
  • Ensure delivery momentum is maintained, identify obstacles, blockers risks and dependencies and help the team to overcome them, or report upwards where required
  • Ensure appropriate governance and transparency of delivery is in place
  • Focus the team on what is most important to the delivery of products and services
  • Encourage and facilitate continuous improvement of the delivery team
  • Coach and mentor both team members and others to apply the most appropriate Agile and Lean tools and techniques
  • Implement health checks and regular retros to ensure the team are happy and motivated and can raise issues where required
  • Ensure teams clearly communicate their plans and progress through their plans using recognised agile practices
  • Provide data to help report on the programme to the portfolio and senior management team
  • Support the creation of an actively participate in any new future delivery and project manager community, learning, sharing and applying skills and knowledge to improve

  • Support the user research to build user-centred best practices and standards, through presentations, training sessions and hands-on delivery, to drive greater user orientation across the team.

Person Specification

We’re looking for people with strong interpersonal skills who enjoy working in a delivery focused, agile environment. Who care about digital and technology and who know how to make projects succeed, as well as stopping them failing.

  • Experience of successfully delivered digital projects and products
  • Proven experience of working in new diverse teams, supporting a team to set up ways of working, and agile processes
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a culture of continuous delivery and improvement
  • An understanding of agile and lean methodologies and how they help deliver products and services
  • A good understanding of the digital landscape
  • Confidence matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • The ability to promote agile practices across an organisation
